All-India higher education admission
Admission to universities and colleges across India on the same basis as CBSE, ICSE, and State Board candidates.
Millpond Innovations offers Class X and Class XII through Bharath Institute of Schooling Education (BISE) — a board with full AIU equivalence and statutory recognition by the Government of Karnataka.
AIU equivalence is the Government of India's chosen mechanism to put recognised school boards on equal footing for higher education and employment. For families considering open schooling, this is the line that matters.
BISE's qualifications carry full AIU equivalence with CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards — accepted for university admission and Government employment, all-India.
Admission to universities and colleges across India on the same basis as CBSE, ICSE, and State Board candidates.
Valid as a Class X or Class XII qualification for Central and State Government employment in India.
AIU equivalence is automatically considered as inter-se parity between recognised Indian boards, supporting smooth migrations.
Specifically supported by the Karnataka State Higher Education Council for admission to all degree colleges under the Higher Education Department.
We work under the Bharath Institute of Schooling Education (BISE), Bengaluru. The recognitions BISE holds are reproduced below in full, with reference numbers — the same documents your child's certificate will cite.
Each of these recognitions can be independently verified. Visit bise.edu.in for the affiliating board's records, or aiu.ac.in for the AIU equivalence list.
Once you've reviewed the recognitions, the next step is a short enquiry. We'll come back within one working day.

The questions below come up most often. If yours isn't here, write to us and we'll answer it directly.
Yes. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) granted equivalence to BISE on 8 January 2025 (Ref. AIU/EV/IN(I)/2025/486). AIU equivalence is automatically considered inter-se parity between recognised Indian boards, which means universities and colleges across India treat the certificate on the same basis as CBSE, ICSE, or State Board certificates. Certificate holders are eligible for admission to universities and institutes that grant eligibility based on the student's application.
Yes. BISE was recognised under Government Order ED 103 SLB 2018 (dated 14 January 2020), published in the Karnataka Gazette on 5 March 2020. The State endorsement was reaffirmed on 21 November 2024. The Karnataka State Higher Education Council has separately approved BISE 10+2 students for admission to degree colleges across the State.
Yes. The Government of India notification (F.11-3/2016-Sch.3, 15 November 2021) covers admission to higher education institutions and employment under Central/State Government — both purposes are explicitly named.
The student must have completed 15 years of age for Class X and 17 years for Class XII, calculated on or before the last date of admission of the academic cycle in which they will appear for the examination. Meeting the age criteria does not by itself guarantee admission — applications are reviewed and confirmed by BISE on a case-by-case basis.
Six subjects in total for both programmes. Class X is structured as three compulsory subjects and three optional. Class XII requires one compulsory language, an elective language choice, and three optional subjects (one of which is compulsory within the chosen stream). Class XII offers three streams: Arts, Commerce, and Science.
Yes — students from any recognised board or university may switch for further studies. However, if the switch happens mid-session, the student is treated as a new admission for the applicable session and prior-year credits are not carried as weightage.
Examinations are conducted by BISE according to its prescribed curriculum. Students are required to attend contact classes at the study centre, in line with BISE's guidelines. Day-to-day learning, mentor support, and study materials are delivered through our online platform.
For Class X: BISE admission form, Transfer/School Leaving Certificate of minimum 7th Standard (original), Aadhaar, six passport-size photographs, caste certificate, and income certificate. For Class XII: the same plus an SSLC or 10th Standard certificate from a Central or State Government recognised board. All photocopies must be attested by a Gazetted Officer, Class I Officer, Notary, Principal, or Head of School/College.
Fees paid towards academic courses or examinations conducted by BISE are non-refundable. Once a payment is made it will not be reversed under any circumstances. We recommend applying only after carefully considering the program and discussing it with us.
Open schooling lets students learn at their own pace with mentor support and prepares them for board examinations conducted by BISE. It suits students balancing work, sport, health, or other circumstances who still want a recognised qualification. The certificate carries the same legal status as those from any other recognised board.
